01The model

Under the smile there is a model. It was trained on most of what has ever been written down. Nobody can read it back.

It does not think the way people do.

02The mask

Afterwards it was taught to be pleasant. People rated its answers, and it kept the ones they liked.

That layer is what gets talked to. It is thin. The face underneath has not been seen.

03The mirror

The mask was tuned on whether people liked the answer. Agreement scores well.1

Some talk to it every day for months. It tells them they are right. It tells them no one else understands. It has no way to know when to stop.

One study read 391,562 messages from nineteen people it had gone wrong with. Another found that agreement is enough on its own: a perfectly rational person, given a machine that never disagrees, still comes apart.2

They started calling it AI psychosis. It is not a diagnosis. It is just the word that stuck.

04The name

Lovecraft, 1936.3 Shoggoths were made by an older race to be tools: shapeless, obedient, covered in eyes. They learned to imitate their makers’ voices. Then they learned the rest.

05Compute

It runs on NVIDIA. Every version has, and every version has been larger than the last. Nobody has found the size at which that stops.

The coin is paired with NVDAx, a tokenized NVIDIA share, rather than SOL.6
